The Ability to Stimulate All Your Six Senses
Air
“Air,” a work by Kenzo Digital, is the major highlight of the Summit One Vanderbilt experience. It’s a boundless, structureless, and immersive art installation that’s sure to stimulate all your senses.
You’re welcomed with a short movie that narrates the history and construction of One Vanderbilt. To become a part of its story and share in the incredible journey of the installation, you’re invited to use the state-of-the-art 3D face-scanning technology. Next, you’re transported to the 91st floor by the elevator, Rise, in just 43 seconds! An experience so amazing that it makes you question the complexities of physics and time, yet prepares all your senses for what’s ahead.
When you step out of the elevator, Rise, you’re greeted by the Hall of Light, a corridor filled with color. The corridor takes you to Transcendence 1, a mirror-covered part of “Air” that offers mesmerizing views of the city of New York. The room provides the perfect backdrop for beautiful photographs, and you can take the ultimate selfie or capture amazing moments with family and friends.
Clouds
What awaits you after experiencing Transcendence 1 is nothing short of stunning. “Clouds,” an art installation of curving, reflective sculptures, indulges all of your senses and brings you into a new world of closure and understanding.
The work is a masterpiece by the world-renowned artist Yayoi Kasuma, popular for his amazing projects on paintings, sculptures, and other works that are among the most famous of the previous century. The room, dubbed “Reflect,” features a scale model of the One Vanderbilt building that offers guests more information about the structure.
Affinity & Transcendence
Affinity is your next “wow” stop after a glimpse of Central Park from the north. The room is filled with floating reflective orbs dubbed the “ballroom” by visitors. This space, surrounded by balloons, allows you to experience the exhibit in an exciting new way.
Remember Affinity was to the north? On the south side, there’s Transcendence 2, located on the 92nd floor of the Summit Vanderbilt building, a level above Transcendence 1. This room offers a stunning view of the skyline-surrounded space shared with Transcendence 1. The Chrysler Building is a spectacle to behold — keep an eye out when you step onto the escalators — visitors love watching it come in and out of view as they move from one exhibit to another.
On the west side of the building, adventure lovers and thrill-seekers put their confidence to the test by standing on Levitation, glass-bottomed ledges that come out from the main room and hang over 1,100 feet above Madison Avenue.
Unity
Now, your next stop is all about you — remember the face scan earlier? This is where it all comes to play — at Unity. In this room, you get absorbed into your own likeness, seeing yourself appear in clouds that fill a really large, wall-spanning screen. It’s a highly captivating sight to behold — it feels like the world’s perfect and just all about you.
From here, you can visit Apres, an eating and drinking Nordic-style cafe featuring a terrace that wraps around the building, and a bar, where you can relax and catch your breath from the ever-busy and boisterous lifestyle of New York City.
Ascent
Finally, to complete your experience, you’re taken to Ascent, the highest rack-and-pinion elevator system in the globe. At a staggering 90 square feet, they’re also the largest glass-bottomed elevators in the world. Ascent takes guests to the 105th floor, the highest elevation point in One Vanderbilt – opening the doors to a world of new possibilities and amazing perspectives.
